Our Dance Companies are offered for our more serious dancers. Students enter this program through audition or upon teacher recommendation and are chosen by skill level, motivation and dedication to perform in numerous outlets such as parades, community events, and competition. Participating students will also have an opportunity to study with some of America's leading dance educators at special workshops and master classes. Being a Company member is equivalent to being on a select sports team. A significant commitment to dance and a great deal of extra time and effort is involved. Dance Ensemble & Acting Ensemble

The SBDC Dance Ensemble is a modern dance company of students’ ages 7-18 years. This youth modern dance company’s goal is to cultivate young dancers while they explore and develop as artists and collaborators in the artistic process. We strive to strengthen and improve modern dance and ballet technique both physically and cognitively, while asking the student’s to commit to three technique classes and at least two hours of repertory and choreography classes per week. The SBDC Dance Ensemble, with its focus on process and product, provides the young dancer professional level performance experience of an exceptional quality.

The SBDC Acting Ensemble, like the dance ensemble, is a company of young performers’ with the objective of developing the skills of the young performer and artist. The Acting ensemble works throughout the year to develop and create an original play while focusing on vocal, improvisational, and creative thinking skills.

Both SBDC Ensembles are open to new members who display a passion for the arts, a willingness to learn and explore through the performing arts, and a dedication and commitment to the ensemble. Age and technical abilities are considered before class placement.
